Nurse's Office Update

March 2018



New state mandates regarding physicals and screenings will go into effect 7/1/18. The mandated years for health exams and screenings for vision, hearing and scoliosis will change for the 2018-19 school year. The grades requiring health exams will now be new entrants, PreK or K, 1,3,5 and 7.


Please schedule physical examinations accordingly. 

New for the 2018-19 School Year

Revisions to School Health Services Regulations Effective 7/1/18


Health examinations will be required for new entrants and in grades PreK or K, 1, 3, 5 and 7.



Vision screening for color perception, distance, and near vision acuity will be required for new entrants within 6 months of admission to school.

Distance and near vision acuity will be required in grades Pre K or K, 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11.

Hearing screening utilizing pure tone testing will be required for new entrants within 6 months of admission to school and in grades Pre K or K, 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11.

Scoliosis screening will be required in grades 5 and 7 for girls and grade 9 for boys.

Changes for screening grades will be implemented for the 2018-2019 school year.

New York State Public Health Law now requires ALL STUDENTS ENTERING 7TH GRADE IN SEPTEMBER to receive a Meningococcal Vaccination. Please make your appointments early rather than later. Please bring proof of immunization to the nurse's office.

Please schedule an appointment for the immunizations needed as soon as possible.  

Once your child gets the necessary immunizations please forward the paperwork to the nurse’s office.  It is extremely important that this documentation is in your child’s file.
