Springs Curriculum

Mathematics

Springs School uses a balanced mathematics approach that fosters deep understanding of mathematical concepts, strong alignment to the Common Core Learning Standards and good problem-solving and computational skills to teach mathematics in grade kindergarten through grade 8. In kindergarten through grade 6, Springs School implements the GO Math series for the basic math program. GO Math is a new comprehensive Kindergarten—Grade 6 mathematics program developed to support the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. The program emphasizes the Critical Areas and depth of understanding through interactive lessons; research based instructional approaches, best practices from around the world, and differentiated instructional resources to ensure success for all students.

GO Math uses hands-on learning to teach real-world applications. The curriculum is supplemented with appropriate strategies and materials from a variety of sources. Differentiation of math instruction will continue to be a focus for our school. Our teachers will continue to engage in professional development to support the implementation of differentiated instruction in the area of mathematics.
